Alyeska Hiking Trails: North Face & Upper Mountain Walks

Mount Alyeska offers scenic hiking trails for all fitness levels. Climb the steep North Face Trail from the valley floor or enjoy easy, panoramic loop walks on the upper mountain terminal.

The Challenging North Face Climb

The North Face Trail is a strenuous 2.2-mile hike climbing over 2,000 vertical feet. Hikers wind up steep slopes and through spruce forests, rewarded with a free tram ride down from the mountaintop terminal.

Mountaintop Glacier & Loop Trails

For a relaxed experience, take the Aerial Tram to the top and walk the scenic, hand-cut pathways loop. You can view snow fields, alpine flowers, and surrounding hanging glaciers without the steep climb.

Hiking Preparation & Wildlife Safety

The mountain is active bear country. Travel in groups, carry bear spray, and make noise. Trail conditions vary; check the mountain report for snow updates before hiking.
