The final version of the Girdwood Comprehensive Plan was officially adopted in April 2025 after years of community drafts led by imaginegirdwood.org. The plan is integrated into the Municipality of Anchorage's official planning publications.

Key goals in the plan include: preserving Girdwood's unique mountain character, protecting local wetlands and wildlife corridors, expanding the trail network, and designating land zones specifically for workforce and affordable housing.
Zoning & Title 21 Compliance
The plan outlines guidelines for updating local zoning codes (Title 21 Chapter 9) to support mixed-use developments, pedestrian-oriented commercial hubs, and structured short-term rental caps.
