Girdwood Land Use Committee (LUC): Zoning & Permits

The Girdwood Land Use Committee (LUC) is a citizen-driven advisory group that reviews all zoning amendments, conditional use permits, and development variances in the valley.

LUC Role & Responsibilities

The LUC advises GBOS and the Anchorage Planning Department on land-use developments. Any proposed building variances, commercial permits, or subdivisions (such as Holtan Hills) must be presented to the LUC for community review.

Voting Rules & Meeting Schedules

LUC regular meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Girdwood Community Room. Unlike typical government boards, any Girdwood property owner or resident who has attended a minimum number of prior meetings is eligible to vote on LUC recommendations.

Current Focus & Active Projects

Recent LUC agendas focus heavily on workforce housing proposals, short-term rental regulations, and commercial developments at the Girdwood Industrial Park.
