Moose Meadows Ski Loop: Scenic Girdwood Nordic Skiing

The Moose Meadows Ski Loop is Girdwood's most popular winter Nordic trail, offering a flat, scenic path winding through the valley's open snow fields and quiet hemlock forests.

Loop Details & Difficulty

The main Moose Meadows loop is a flat, 3-mile trail categorized as easy, making it perfect for beginners and families. The loop is wide enough to accommodate both classic tracks and skate skiing, with spectacular 360-degree mountain views.

Grooming & Seasonal Quality

Grooming is managed by volunteers from the Girdwood Nordic Ski Club. The open meadows catch plenty of snow, but can be windy. Late winter (February to March) offers the most consistent snow conditions and longer daylight hours.

Wildlife Alerts

Moose are frequent visitors to the meadows, often browsing on willow branches near the trail. Keep a safe distance (at least 50 feet), and keep dogs close or leashed to prevent encounters.
